1.55 Lingfield Zenarinda 4pts win @ 9/1 (VC Bet, William Hill, guaranteed, 8/1 generally guaranteed)
A 1-28 strike rate is somewhat offputting, but the booking of Martin Dwyer is a positive for Zenarinda, given that he knows her well and is the only jockey to have won on her. She needs holding up and luck in running, but it seems as if ten furlongs around here is her optimum and she has run well here on more than one occasion. The presence of Navajo Charm and Manadati drawn low here, as well as Hydrant and St Ignatius drawn high, suggests there will be a decent pace on which should set this up for the selection to swoop fast and late - tactics which are more plausable now that the track has bedded in somewhat. This is a poor looking 0-75 with many of the protagonists out of form, and as a mare with recent good figures she makes plenty of appeal - she is also one of a handful who looks to be ahead of her handicap mark. Fitness is not an issue, and I expect her to go close - we could have an agoniser on our hands if she fails to find the gaps but the price is right to take a chance.
3.05 Lingfield Millibar 4pts win @ 7/2 (William Hill, guaranteed, 10/3 generally guaranteed)
Millibar's recent form with Sonko reads quite well and I think he is an improving sprinter. His recent form includes a course and distance win and a second stepped back to five behind Sonko, the return to six furlongs today will suit and I think he can get a nice tow into the race from Forest Edge. That rival looks the main danger, but I think Millibar is the stronger finisher and if he keeps tabs early he can do his rival in the straight. The price is too big in my view, I made him more like a 5/2 / 11/4 shot. We will also put today's selections into an each-way double.
