A moderate looking contest at first glance which some of the participants beginning to look exposed, and a chance is taken on an improver landing the spoils. Scepticism appeals having attracted a lot of support last time out at Kempton when first time gelded. He is bred to run well on this surface and was expected to improve last time out, but seemed a little bit ill at ease on the track and weakened quickly. Mark Johnston's string are in really good form, though, and more than any stable his horses tend to bounce back from "duck egg" performances with wins. Much better will be expected of the selection in due course and he won't find many more winnable opportunities than this.
Give Me High Five was ridden forward last time out, and she didn't seem to appreciate it. All her starts have been at this track and she has showed some decent form, particularly when finishing second in a fair maiden last backend. I would suggest she will be ridden with a bit more restraint this afternoon, and with a decent claimer taking 5lb off, and the stable's few runners in very good form, she looks well worth backing at the prices.
