Midnight Belle looks a very progressive mare and, looking at her breeding, action, and the strength with which she travels, is a horse I have long thought would be better on better ground. The fact that she has been heavily punted on her last three visits to the racecourse suggests connections feel they have something up their sleeve, and I personally believe she could be as good as OR130 in time. She is uncomplicated, has a good attitude, jumps well enough and seems to have been enjoying her racing. I made her a 5/2 shot against this lot, particularly with the ground drying out, and with eight runners showing up the circumstances seem to have fallen right for a maximum each-way investment. It is also a bonus that the race is restricted to conditionals; Ben Poste rides well and has struck up a really good relationship with the mare, his presence in the saddle is a positive. There are no guarantees in racing, but the selection seems to be on an upward curve and I can't see that much to be frightened of amongst the opposition.
