Monday 22nd April 2013

Some good cards this afternoon, and it looks a day for picking up clues on the whole. We'll have just one afternoon interest, there is a 50-50 chance of an evening bet too, details on that will be released before 5.00pm.

3.10 Pontefract Singeur 1pt each-way AND 1pt win @ 25/1 (VC Bet, Stan James, Betpack.com, Coral, guaranteed)

Has form at six furlongs although his best results and all his wins have come over five. The selection goes well fresh and his form figures on seasonal debut read 2210, the 0 coming in July last year, later than he usually reappears, which might suggest he suffered some sort of hold up. It was at this track, but on soft ground which he has never won on. The ground at Pontefract is good and drying all the time, and a draw in stall four will be a big advantage in a field this size. He is closely matched with a number of these on form and looks well handicapped off OR92, having won off this mark and higher in the past. Robert Winston rides, and I make him more like a 14/1 shot, 25/1 looks very fair and he is worth an interest each-way and win.
