3.30 Doncaster Prodigality 2pts each-way AND 1pt win @ 11/1 (Generally, get guaranteed)
Represents the Ron Harris stable, whose sprint handicappers I hold in the highest regard, and whose stable have had 19 winners since the turn of the year. This could turn out to be Ron's best horse, and he was very well backed to win at Warwick recently under conditions that were not totally ideal. He revels in coming off a strong pace and you could argue he might have won the Portland handicap with a better draw (or gone even closer). Today he is drawn in stall 13, close to both Fitz Flyer and Hamza who should set a good pace, and I think if that materialises the selection will have every chance of winning. He remains progressive and I expect him to feature in some of the top handicaps this season. Interestingly, the trainers' sprinters came to hand early last season before getting themselves over handicapped, and that could be a pattern that repeats itself.
5.00 Kempton Mubaraza 6pts win @ 3/1 (Generally, get guaranteed)
Not as strong a race as it first looks. Mubaraza's form looks the best on offer here and provided he goes on the surface, I think he will take the beating. I would expect him to be supported on course and perhaps trade bigger in the run before winning - he looks an out and out stayer and wouldn't want a crawl. Paul Hanagan rides Kempton well and should be alive to the danger of Woolfall Treasure setting a slow tempo. Stall one offers the option of sitting handy and I think 3/1 is very fair.
