Tuesday 23rd April 2013

Two selections for Tuesday.

5.05 Wolverhampton An Cat Dubh 5pts win @ 6/1 (Generally, get guaranteed)

Looked progressive last season for Ian Williams and appeals as the sort to go well fresh, and to improve as a four year old. Drawn in stall two here and there is plenty of pace on, hopefully Dr Red Eye will be sent on and Fanning will track him, delivering the selection late on. The stable are coming into form and have had two horses go within a photo of winning in the past few days. Many of these are beginning to look exposed and at around twice the price of Sound Amigo, the selection is preferred.

6.40 Punchestown Harry Topper 5pts win @ 11/2 (Generally, get guaranteed)

Has been kept back for this contest by connections who have wisely waited for some soft ground. This doesn't look a vintage renewal and Harry Topper's form in front of Benefficient last winter looks all the more interesting in light of that horse's festival exploits. The selection has improved since beating Tony Martin's horse at Newbury and if it wasn't for the blip at Kelso, he might be unbeaten and an entirely different price. I think anything around 5/1+ is too big and with conditions ideal, I expect him to go close.
