Wednesday 10th April 2013

Two interests for this afternoon.

2.20 Catterick Shirleys Pride 1pt each-way @ 12/1 (Generally, get guaranteed) AND 1pt win @ Betfair SP - WON

Has very little in the way of solid form but her trainer last year John Holt had a poor season and the angle here is that she has switched to the excellent Michael Appleby stable. Of 53 switchers in the last three years the stable have had six winners and seven seconds producing a level stakes profit of over £200. This doesn't look a particularly strong contest and the selection is bred to sprint, indeed she has one good piece of form from last June at Lingfield that gives her a chance off a lowly rating. We'll back her each-way and win to relatively small stakes.

4.10 Nottingham President Lincoln 1pt each-way @ 14/1 (Generally, get guaranteed) AND 1pt win @ Betfair SP

Can race prominently which is an advantage at this track, and a draw in stall 7 looks fair enough. The selection looks well handicapped off OR77 on the basis of his run at Leicester last time and although he goes well fresh, his yard are in really good form and if he does not bounce, he can take a hand in the finish. This is a better race, but many of them might not be ready for today and I'm inclined to think the selection is four or five points too big at the prices.
