Seamster banged his head in the stalls yesterday and was still allowed to run unfortunately for us, our money was lost as soon as he left the stalls.
Two for today.
Represents a trainer whose 3yo handicappers are profitable to back blind stepping up in trip - although this seems to have gone under the radar somewhat. Solvanna ran really well behind a 2/11 hotpot favourite last time out, getting that horse off the bridle and quickening from the front to put distance between herself and the rest of the field by the finish, although Storm eventually won snugly. On breeding ten furlongs should be no problem, given that she is out of a dam who won twice over the trip. None of these look like superstars in waiting and, with the recent run behind her and further progression looking a distinct possibility, she is selected at a decent price. A recent track bias towards prominent racers will do her no harm.
7.30 Kempton Pearl Nation 5pts win @ 11/2 (Generally, get guaranteed)
I have to admit I hemmed and hawed about this one, thinking it might be a "sexy" horse who was in fact underpriced, but having given the race a thorough reading I'm happy with price and bet. The selection looked a really nice horse last year but probably had to grow into his frame and he only won once, but it was his Kempton reappearance that was really eye catching. He was never hit with the whip or given anything like a hard time, but he travelled best for much of the contest in rear and was still on the bridle when Stir Trader (reopposes) came off it and that horse was given a much harder race to finish third. that was five weeks ago, and with the stable's horses now running well, you'd imagine he has come on a lot for the run. As a big horse he will have no issues carrying top weight, and although this is a hot race I think he is much better than his handicap mark and should win a few races this coming season.
