6.30 Curragh Galileo Rock 1pt each-way @ 12/1 (Boylesports, Paddy Power, Stan James, Betpack.com, guaranteed) AND 1pt win @ Betfair SP. - E/W 2nd
Galileo Rock is the horse in this line up bred with stamina in mind, and he looks overpriced at the current odds given his proximity to second favourite Libertarian at Epsom. A slow pace did not play into his hands either, and the fact that he took a hold early may have indicated a dislike for the track as well as been inconvenienced by the pace. A stronger pace is on the cards despite a smaller field today, and if this horse's upward curve of Racing Post ratings continues, he as every right to contest the finish as he did at Epsom and there is no reason he is three times the price of Libertarian. He looks the each-way value and is selected to small stakes.

Afternoon bets:
Two for this afternoon, evening bets may follow, details at 5.30pm sharp.
Olly Stevens is clearly a very good trainer of two year olds, and his achievement in winning the Winsdor Castle at Royal Ascot is not to be underestimated. This fillies Listed contest has probably been the target for Hoku for quite a while, and her two career runs to date suggest she has the ability to improve for a step up to six furlongs here and at least take a hand in the finish. She is by Holy Roman Emperor, who does particularly well with fillies, and the booking of Jamie Spencer catches the eye. Her run behind Beldale Memory looks like solid form, but she was out of her comfort zone at the minimum trip and did well to get second in my view. The sixth furlong should see her come into her own and, provided she handles the dip, I think she has the necessary improvement in her to win here.
3.50 Newcastle Gatepost 2pts each-way AND 1pt win @ 10/1 (Bet 365, VC Bet, Wiliiam Hill, Independents, guaranteed)
Gatepost is a horse who looks well handicapped now for Richard Fahey, like many of his sire's progeny he has a few temperament issues but he is really talented too and gets the vote off a mark of OR85 this afternoon. He didn't handle the dip at Newmarket last time out but did all his best work at the finish, leading me to think a flat six furlongs with a stiff finish should bring out the best in him this afternoon. The selection has some strong soft ground form, and looks well drawn in the middle to get plenty of cover. He should get a tow into this from the likes of Anton Chigurh who is drawn next door, and the assistance of Paul Hanagan, who knows the horse and will be at pains to produce him late on, is a bonus. His chances are underestimated at a double figure price.
