Thursday 27th June 2013

Just one race of interest for today, next bets tomorrow morning.

2.30 Newcastle

Paddy's Bay 1pt each-way AND 1pt win @ 20/1 (Generally, get guaranteed)
Broadcaster 1pt each-way AND 1pt win @ 20/1 (Bet 365, Coral, guaranteed, 18/1 VC Bet, guaranteed, 16/1 generally guaranteed) - E/W 2nd

Paddy's Bar represents a stable whose juveniles (and indeed entire string) have really hit form. The selection has a similar profile to Oasis Town, who won yesterday at Carlisle. He made an encouraging debut, probably failing to handle Hamilton's tight turns and perhaps not seeing out seven furlongs either. He was very green but showed decent speed to lay up with the favourite and winner Somewhat, who is probably Group class. The selection will need to improve vastly to win here but he showed enough promise to be of interest at the prices and Oasis Town came on leaps and bounds for her debut when winning yesterday.

Broadcaster made a highly encouraging debut in a good Haydock maiden, travelling really well on the heels of the leaders before fading in the final furlong. He too steps back in trip, and while there is a feeling that perhaps Nurserys are the plan, he looks a really well made horse and should have the ability to win a race like this. Fast ground might be a slight question mark with his sire's progeny preferring cut in the ground. However, the track has been watered, the going stick is a relatively safe 7.6, and the track has been verti drained since the last meeting, a process which reverses compaction in the soil. The ground should be fresh with a good growth and the chance is taken on the selection showing improvement for his debut. His stable have been out of form but a batch of entries in the coming days after a quiet spell suggests perhaps they have turned the corner - their juveniles tend to come to themselves in June most years and hopefully 2013 is no different.
