6.55 Newbury Secret Kode 1pt each-way @ 33/1 (Stan James, Betpack.com, William Hill, Independents, guaranteed) AND 1pt win @ Betfair SP. - E/W 2nd
Those to have raced don't set an exacting standard and I wouldn't be surprised to see a newcomer winning this average looking fillies' maiden. Secret Kode looks an unusual entry at a big prize. Brendan Powell gets the odd good two year old, and I find it interesting he paid £18,000 for this speedily bred filly at the Doncaster breeze ups in April. She is a January foal and is by Kodiac, who is becoming a very decent sire of early two year olds. Plenty has to be taken on trust, the trainer is not renowned for first time out winners, and this is one for fairly small stakes as a result. Saying that, I did find it unusual she was sent down as the stable's only entry and the race conditions mean this looks like a decent bit of placement. She had to have shown something at the breeze ups to justify the decent sized price tag, and at 33/1 she looks worthy of an each-way and win play.
