6.10 Ripon See The Sun 3pts each-way @ 5/1 (Generally, get guaranteed)
I'm really not keen on the favourite Venture Quest at the prices here. He sat handy on debut but really didn't learn much, not really passing any horses, holding his head a bit funny, and looking less than responsive under pressure. I was more impressed with the debut of See The Sun. The selection showed good speed to race prominently but was stuck behind a wall of horses for much of the race, with no room to really lengthen his stride and push on. I thought he did really well to hold his position, and he looked scopey enough to suggest there will be further improvement to come. The step up in trip should suit and it was noticeable he was not given anything like a hard time by the claimer who rode him on his debut. He seems to be the choice of stable jockey David Allan this evening, and the place price on the Betfair market would suggest he is an each-way bet to nothing with the dead eight lining up.
