Wednesday 30th October 2013

Just one selection for this evening.

6.40 Kempton Dream And Search 2pts each-way AND 1pt win @ 9/1 (Bet 365, Ladbrokes, guaranteed, or take 10/1+ fixed with independents)

Has drifted this morning, but Charlie Hills only sends the one horse to Kempton for powerful connections and he is bred to be better than a handicap mark of OR75. The selection is by Raven's Pass, whose progeny boast a 22% strike rate at Kempton, and is related the family of Proud Citizen on the dam's side, so it is little wonder turf has not seen him justify his price tag of 125,000GNS at the Breeze Ups in April. His action very must suggests artificial surfaces will be his bag, though, and he makes his polytrack debut over a more suitable distance this evening. Harry Bentley seems to be here to ride, and in a race with little apparent pace it might pay to ride him prominently from stall 4. I don't think he has done much wrong in his starts to date, and although a truncated campaign would suggest he hasn't been easy to train, I can't find any chinks in his attitude and am happy to give him the benefit of the doubt. I think the price here is very fair up against the favourite who looks very short, and we'll take a chance on him putting everything together under more suitable conditions this evening.
