Hard to come by betting opportunities at Kempton this evening, but I do like Roger Varian's filly in the maiden, and the booking of William Buick is a positive and suggests the stable are trying to get a win on the board with her tonight. She looked more of a galloper than a quickener on her debut, but she was quite green and didn't have that race run to suit. When she got the message, she ran on very strongly and kept going to the line in the manner of a filly who should progress. She ought to do better as a three year old and I'll be disappointed if she doesn't beat this moderate bunch tonight.
Handsome Stranger looks a bit of value against Grey Blue in the 7.25pm. The favourite didn't finish his race off well at this track in a jumper's bumper, and it didn't look to me like he quickened on the surface when asked, despite the fact that he travelled well off a slow pace. Handsome Stranger should appreciate tonight's trip and he looks potentially quite progressive based on his last run. 5/2+ is a fair price and with most bookmakers guaranteeing odds on doubles, it looks a clever bet looking at the make up of the contests. Two places assures a small profit, two wins and we have a nice payout on out hands.
