4.30 Southwell Razin' Hell 3pts each-way AND 1pt win @ 13/2 (Bet Victor, guaranteed, 6/1 generally guaranteed) - WON
National Service has been hammered all morning but he has been overbet based on his connections, who are renowned for placing this type of sprinter well, and his pedigree, which suggests he will be at home on this surface. However, he has yet to race here and he makes absolutely no appeal at 11/10 as a result. Razin' Hell is developing into a gnarly Southwell sprinter, and although he didn't beat much last time out, he had everything completely goosed by halfway such is the early speed he possesses. His trainer's horses save their very best for this track, and the booking of Silvestre De Sousa suggests the horse will be ready to win after a 54 day break. I think there is more improvement in this horse as the year goes on, and fancy him to get the better of the other proven course performers and run second at least (in the event that National Service has a stone in hand). He makes plenty of each-way appeal at the prices, particularly as the surface will ride slow after the dry weather, meaning tonnes of kickback for anything that can't go the early pace (Razin' Hell will have no issues on that score).
