Monday 2nd June 2014

Just one selection for Monday evening.

7.30 Windsor Rex Imperator 2pts each-way AND 2pts win @ 10/1 (Generally guaranteed) - E/W 2nd

This looks a decent listed sprint, but I'd be very much inclined to take on the favourite Music Master. His trainer has an excellent record with horses first time up, but not so good on their second run of the season. I don't know how much improvement there will be to come and I'll look elsewhere. Montiridge looks short enough too for a horse who is not as yet a specialist sprinter.

William Haggas' yard are in very good form and his Rex Imperator is the one I like. The selection is relatively lightly raced and very classy, as he showed when winning the Steward's Cup (tipped by us of course!) last year at Goodwood. He has some good pieces of course form to his name and is a course and distance winner. It looks to me as there is just a slight bit of juice still in the ground having watched race 1 on the card, and those conditions will suit him perfectly. He is drawn well to get a tow into the race from the likes of Minalisa, and connections have taken the trouble to book Frankie Dettori for the ride. 10/1 is too big and we'll play each-way and win.
