Royal Marskell is in goof form and seems to be improving for the step up to middle distances. She won well at Southwell on her penultimate run, and although there is a chance she might be better on the all weather, she had definite excuses last time out at Lingfield. She was keen enough in a steadily run race, was hampered in the home straight, and didn't seem to handle the downhill part of the track particularly well. Back on a flat track at which tactical speed is favoured, I am happy to take a chance on her in a fairly moderate looking race for the grade. She is well drawn to take a good early position and has the assistance of the jockey who won on her at Southwell; he maintains a healthy 10% strike rate at this track. 8/1 looks fair and with 1/4 odds paid, we'll set our stakes up to return our outlay in the event of a place.
